Identify the character-defining signals
Some characters are recognized by ears, tails or overall silhouette; others by eyes, mouth or color relationships. Mark which parts cannot be distorted and which details can be simplified or adjusted at the intended size.
Size and use case change the method
Keychains, event gifts, display plush and cushions raise different considerations for facial features, materials, hanging parts, packing and durability. Establish how the product will be used before deciding whether the artwork suits a given scale and construction.
Clarify licensing and confidentiality early
If the character belongs to a brand or third-party IP, confirm who can provide artwork, approve samples and authorize publication. Artwork, samples, quotations and order information should not be shown publicly without permission.
Make sample communication more efficient
- Provide clear front, side, back and detail references.
- List the three to five character features that cannot be compromised.
- Share target size, estimated quantity, intended use and delivery region.
- Leave room to discuss adjustable elements instead of treating every detail as equally important.
