Details that suit embroidery

Clear outlines, controlled colour counts and features that benefit from stitched texture can work well. Dense fine lines, overlapping colour blocks and artwork close to seam allowance may become crowded.

Why dense stitching puckers

Repeated needle penetration concentrates tension. Soft or stretchy cloth can contract, and the distortion may change again after stuffing. A sew-out should tune density, backing and stitch path.

When to consider printing or appliqué

Printing can retain gradients and complex flat texture; appliqué can separate larger colour areas or materials. Choose by readability, repeatability and use rather than by a hierarchy of technique names.

How to review the sample

Check expression at normal viewing distance, then inspect stitch edges, puckering, symmetry and placement. Review again after stuffing curves the panel, and retain approved references for production.

Embroidery, printing or appliqué

Embroidery suits clear boundaries and stitched texture; printing suits gradients and complex flat information; appliqué suits larger colour or material zones.

Methods can be combined, but thickness, seam allowance and curved-surface distortion need control. Preserve expression-defining lines before decorative detail.

Why untested limits stay unpublished

Minimum width and spacing depend on fabric, machine, thread, backing, artwork direction and stuffed curvature. A single detached number would imply repeatability that has not been established.

Create a sew-out at actual scale, then review normal distance, close detail and the filled surface. Publish limits only after controlled physical testing.
