Millimetres change the expression
A sewing shift of roughly 2 mm may be visually minor on a 40 cm toy but can alter the expression of a 12 cm character. The first step is to identify the silhouette and facial relationships that define recognition.
Facial spacing becomes sensitive
A difference of about 1 mm in eye spacing can be visible on a small face. Placement must account for fabric stretch, hooping, seams and the curved surface created by stuffing, not only a proportional digital reduction.
Pile and embroidery compete for space
Long pile can cover eyes, mouth lines and seam boundaries, while dense embroidery may pucker the base fabric. Small projects therefore prioritize readable features and verify them on a physical sample.
Stuffing controls shape and symmetry
Too little filling collapses the form; too much can round the face and move facial relationships. Narrow ears, limbs and tails also need even distribution and review from front, side and a natural resting position.
Production fabric must match the sample reference
Fabrics with the same trade name can vary in stretch, weight, pile direction and recovery. With limited pattern allowance, those changes can affect head width, face shape and posture, so production material needs a renewed check.
What to prioritize at 10, 15 and 20 cm
At about 10 cm, protect facial and silhouette readability. Around 15 cm, balance recognition with material detail. Around 20 cm, more construction space is available, but pile and overfilling can still distort proportion.
Record more than overall height: eye spacing, nose-mouth relationship, head-body proportion, ear angle and critical joins should be reviewed from front, profile and a natural resting state.
| Size | First priority | Common risk | Sample check |
|---|---|---|---|
| About 10 cm | Facial spacing and clarity | High seam share and pile coverage | Inspect stitches close; read expression at distance |
| About 15 cm | Expression, embroidery and material balance | Puckering and visible spacing shifts | Review front, profile and stuffed curvature |
| About 20 cm | Silhouette, structure and local texture | Filling changes proportion | Review posture, symmetry and key dimensions |
How to brief a small-size project
Mark three to five non-negotiable recognition features and identify details that may be simplified. Fabric, embroidery and components cannot be approved in isolation because they compete for limited space.
Leqiqu focuses on 10–20 cm detail-sensitive custom plush. Regular sampling uses a 5–7 working-day reference; revisions, dyeing and laboratory work are scheduled separately.
- Define finished height and measuring posture
- List three to five recognition features
- State preferred facial technique
- Confirm pile, stretch and direction
- Retain sample, photos and key dimensions for production
Additional project control
This page also uses a project-control layer: confirm the actual artwork, finished size, physical fabric, technique files, approved sample and target-market scope before production. The Chinese edition contains the detailed factory-side mechanism notes; the English edition is written around the same buyer decisions rather than presented as a literal translation.
